DIY Mask Lanyard

As this pandemic continues to drag on, so does the need to wear a mask. Like most office workers, I am constantly going through the motions of taking my mask off and putting it back on. Usually setting it on my desk, table, or filing cabinet (not the most sound solution to keeping those areas sanitized)! Enter the idea for my own MASK LANYARD! It has been such a great addition to my everyday Covid routine, each time when I take off my mask it is so much simpler and cleaner to just wear it around my neck! For a quick video tutorial check out the link below, or read on for the full step by step:

The supplies you’ll need are:

  • Leather cord (or any type of string you desire)

  • Beads (I like wood beads)

  • Split rings

  • Clips

Step 1: Cut the string to your desired length (I draped mine over my neck and cut it to the length where both ends met my belly button).

Step 2: Layout your beads and then string them!

Step 3: Twist the split rings around the clips (you can simply tie your cord to the clips, but I find this is a cleaner look).

Step 4: Tie the ends to the clips and knot the beads in place.

Step 5: Add a bead to the middle section and knot it (as a fastener).

Once complete you will have your very own mask lanyard! I have been absolutely loving mine, it reminds me of when I was a kid with my mittens on a string (aaaahhh nostalgia). Thanks for stopping by and I hope your DIY mask lanyard brings your as much joy as mine did for me.
