Seattle weekend getaway!
The Emerald City - Jet City - or Rain City! Whatever slogan you fancy Seattle is the perfect destination for your next long weekend vacation. With the weather warming up in Alberta this week, it has me longing for spring road trip season! Only 12 hours from Calgary it’s a picturesque drive through BC and Idaho all the way to Washington, with lots to see and great lookout points along the way you WON’T be wishing you took a plane!
IF YOU TAKE NOTHING ELSE FROM THIS BLOG POST - Take this: If you are planning a trip to Seattle, check out the Seattle city pass. For $99USD you get admission to the top five attractions in the city! For only two full days to fill, this was the perfect solution, giving us just enough activities to plan our trip around but enough free time to fit in a few other sights not included in the pass.
Day one of our trip we toured the zoo! With sunny June weather it was the perfect day to stroll around and take photos of all the cute animals :) After some lunch we hit the aquarium and then spent the rest of our afternoon at Pike Place, and the Argosy Cruise.
Day two we started at Pike Place to get our morning coffee at the ORIGINAL Starbucks before heading to Safeco Field to watch the Blue Jays take on the Mariners - that was probably the only chilli day we had, of course Shayne was back at the car grabbing my jacket the exact moment a pop fly came our way! From there we headed to the Space Needle and finished at the Chihuly Glass Garden.
With each night watching the sun set over the ocean it made me a little sad to not live by the sea - but hey this prairie girl still has her mountains right?? Just means it’s time to start planning our next seaside vacation!
